Do you cater?

Yes, as Take-Out Catering from our Gourmet Market. We ended off-site catering in 2000 to focus  fully on the other operations.

Take -Out Catering offerings are really quite extensive, and we were pioneers in this area. We offer seasonal menus, plus Prix Fixe options for every major holiday. The current menu is posted on our website. We pride ourselves on having plenty of food in the deli cases so an impromptu party can be available from deli cases or pre-packaged in another “grab and go” case.

We make  32 different entrees, side dishes, salads daily.

Baked goods include cookies, breakfast items, including our signature cream currant scone. Other classics are rosemary raisin bread and parmesan toast.
Pastries are seasonal, but the chocolate cake with brown sugar icing is perennial. We make it every single day.

Daily selection of soup, stew, casseroles, sandwiches, prepared entrée salads, condiments, dips, cheese…..you will not go away hungry! We have two large freezers laden with the above mentioned.

And then there’s wine. Oh, I do love a summer Rose and most French wines. The temperature controlled cellar offers reds from France, Italy, Washington and California. Chilled whites and rose are across the board—both in varietals and budget.

As for the  merchandise we carry, imagine items related to dining and entertaining—linens, candles, soaps, bar ware, seasonal décor, and hostess gifts. We really go all out for every holiday!

Do you sell any of your food anywhere? Or deliver?

Right now our food is only available here at Julienne. I do know of long-time customers coming in with their coolers, stocking up for the week from our freezers and prepared food section. That always makes me smile.

At this time, we are not able to deliver food, but couriers often come here to pick up.

Questions regarding the restaurant

Can I make reservations?

We invite you to host an intimate gathering in our Private Library Dining Room, a beautiful gilt and wood paneled room separate from the rest of the bustle of the Restaurant. The room comfortably seats up to 16 guests at one long table. We often offer tray passed bellini or champagne as guests enter the room. Custom menus are placed at each place and party favors add to the festive and convivial atmosphere.

Please note there is a minimum charge in food and beverage charges to reserve the Room—$350 for breakfast and $500 for lunch.

Reservations are accepted for Monday–Friday, either for breakfast or lunch, and exclusively in the Dining Room.

Can I reserve a private room for a party?

While we do regularly use the Library Dining Room for regular lunch seating, should you like to reserve it for a special occasion, we have recently revised our reservation policy.

Private Evening events are also available. Julienne is perfect for milestone birthdays, rehearsal dinners, small weddings, corporate dinners and anything else you want to celebrate. Can I bring my dog?

We are sorry that we do not allow even the most well behaved dogs, out of consideration to our other customers who may be adversely affected.

What are your hours?

The Restaurant serves Breakfast and Lunch….no dinner! Please note there is typically a 30 minute wait….but there are lots of things to look at in the Gourmet Market. A host will be very happy to find you there.

SATURDAY BRUNCH

Saturday: 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m.

I’ve been observing more people coming in for hearty late lunch/early dinner …in order to catch an early movie or play. The kitchen closes at 3:30 Monday-Saturday.

Market Hours

Monday-Friday: 8am-6:30pm Saturday: 8am-5 ish.

 

 

Do you have a corkage fee?

Yes, there is a $20 per bottle corkage fee. We put a lot of time—and tasting!—into a selection
that will pair specifically with our foods, so you should be able to find what you like on our list. But if you have a special bottle that you would like to enjoy while dining with us, you are welcome to bring it with you!

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

We handle dietary restrictions on a daily basis and will do our best to accommodate you.
Please note that we do use dairy, gluten, nuts and soy in our kitchen, but we take every precaution possible to make sure that your dish is as you would like it.

Do you have a children’s menu?

We do not provide a children’s menu.   We are sure there is something on the menu that can be modified that will appeal to your child.

Who are your customers?

The most wonderful people enjoying a pleasant menu appealing to an adult palate.

  • The group of 7 men who hold court every single morning. There’s the competing group of men at the other end of the patio every Friday morning.
  • Singles who enjoy a quiet respite to open mail, read a magazine and enjoy lunch and a glass of wine.
  • Weekly mother, daughter, grand- daughters lunch.
  • Dates. (We can always tell.)
  • Busy professionals and parents picking up dinner every night.
  • Busy professionals and parents starting every morning with the paper and a Herbert Special.
  • Small group celebrations.
  • Out of towners visiting the Huntington Library or staying at the Langham Hotel.
  • Shoppers who want to enjoy a nice relaxing lunch.

We welcome anyone and everyone to Julienne!

What do you do with the extra food?

While we have become very good at managing production, there is extra food left over on Saturday. For many years we have been donating that food to All Saints Episcopal Church Homeless Ministry. Haven House for abused women and children is another recipient of Saturday food.

Do you give back to local organizations?

Yes, Julienne is generous in supporting numerous local organizations. We get many, many requests annually for support. Although we are not able to support every cause, we do our best to support as many as possible.

Do you have gift certificates?

Yes! Use in either the Restaurant or Gourmet Market, available in any denomination. Please purchase in the Gourmet Market. For your convenience, you may buy on-line and a “gift worthy” acknowledgment will be sent to the recipient.

What a perfect gift for a new home owner, out-of-town thank you gift, teachers, colleagues. We sell so many for a Christmas stocking stuffers.

May I request a recipe?

We are happy you want to try something at home! All of the recipes that have been converted for the home chef are in our cookbook “Celebrating with Julienne”, available for purchase (of course!) in the Gourmet Market. Other recipes we use are mostly locked in the brains of the kitchen staff…same talented people making chicken apricot salad for 30 years!  In other words, the “recipes” have not been adjusted for the home chef.

Where can I find your upcoming menus?

Our Menus are located on our website or you can ask a server for a copy. You may also sign up for our email blasts and get the latest information in your inbox about once a week.

Is there really a Julienne?

Yes….and no! I am the owner, Julie Annette. I like to think my mom named the restaurant after me, her favorite daughter (!). She scoffed at the suggestion and told me to get back to work. Julienne is named after her favorite restaurant in Paris and refers to the culinary term,  “julienne”.  I still prefer my version.
